Colin Bishop, PhD, and Martin Childers, DO, PhD, of the Wake Forest Institute of Regenerative Medicine. Drs. Bishop and Childers will discuss what regenerative medicine is and its application for motor neuron disease; they will also provide information on the WFIRM and the research being conducted there.
Brian Kramer, MS,L.Ac,Dipl.Ac,CPT, of Kramer Acupuncture. Brian will explain the use of acupuncture in spasticity and pain management.
Dr Nina Tang Sherwood, an assistant professor of biology at Duke University and the recipient of a 2006 SPF grant for HSP research, will give an overview of the types of basic research people are doing with different animals to better understand HSP and other motor neuron diseases.
This event is hosted by the organizers of The Magnificent Mile and the SPF. There is no cost and refreshments will be served.
